My Thoughts About New Moon

Wallpaper_2_1280x1024 New Moon, the second part of the Twilight Saga is coming out on November 20, 2009.  I heard a lot of bad reviews about this one compared to Twilight, so I didn’t really rush on reading it.  But after watching the trailer, I feel like I have to.

The trailer sort of gave out the few chapters of the book.  A scene from the trailer shows that Edward leaving Bella forever for some reason.  After what they’ve been through.. WHY!  Twilight will not be Twilight without Edward!  After that heartbreaking scene, a familiar vampire came to the picture taunting Bella.  With Edward gone, who will rescue our damsel in another distress!  BOOM!  Jacob came running and transformed into a WOLF!

Will there be more action in  New Moon?  More romance? I have yet to find out!

A lot of things has been said about Twilight.  It is obviously a book catered to teenage girls. Most of them fell in love with the character of Edward the romantic vampire specially when the movie came out played by Robert Pattinson .  A lot of guys probably won’t admit they read Twilight or even watch the movie. Some of my friends even say they watched it because of their girlfriend and they are not interested to watch it at all.

Oh well, I did read the book and watch the movie on my own prerogative.  I am not ashamed to admit it!  While reading Twilight, the author was able to make me feel that I am part of the story.  It is quite magical to be in Bella’s shoes as I turn each and every page, and I guess this is why most guys don’t bother reading the book at all, because they don’t want to be Bella.

But I don’t care!  I will read New Moon and be in the shoes of a very brave character again and experience the mystery of werewolves this time around!

Im Addicted To These Songs

Its been a while since I started to really listen to the current hit songs played in the radio.  I sort of hear them while Im sleeping and when I wake up but never really paid attention to who sang the song and appreciate the melody and the lyrics.  And obviously one main reason is that I am very engrossed to American Idol during the last few months.  This weekend, I finally had time to go and search for these familiar songs I hear everyday and I am very surprised that there are quite a lot of songs currently topping the charts that are really really nice!  Heres my top ten songs as of the moment.

5. Miss Independent I know this song has been in the airwaves for quite some time, I just didnt had the chance to go and download it since its not part of the original Year of the Gentlemen album.  I was super addicted to Closer and now this spanking great new single from Neyo!

4. No Surprise At first, I find this song a torture, because I hear it 3 times in the evening and in the morning for a span of one hour!  I thought the radios here in Singapore has nothing else to play, but I as listen to it now, It is indeed a wonderful song.  No wonder it gets requested often.

3. Poker Face Ok.. I admit!  I LIKE LADY GAGA!  Hahahahah!  This song is always at the back of my mind, and if I get the chance, I always hum or even sing to it.  The first time I hear the song  was in one of the American Idol performances where I didnt really like the song and never really knew who this weird girl Lady Gaga is.  But now, I listen to all the tracks on her album and they are all superb!

2. Boom Boom Pow I havent heard a song from Black Eyed Peas since "My Humps.  And this song made me love the group once again!  I feel like dancing whenever I play this song!  Wooohooo!

1. I Gotta Feeling This one doesnt sound very Black Eyed Peas to me.  It sounded more techno and disco in the 90s.  I love this song!  I feel like Im in my College days again! gotta feeling, that tonights gonna be a good night, that tonights gonna be a good good night hooooohoooo!

And oh.. my iPhone finally has songs again!  LOL!

Singapore: The Lion City

Singapore: The Lion City, originally uploaded by loganwing.

The Lion Head is an icon you will find almost everywhere in Singapore. The symbol that makes Singapore distinct among the South East Asian countries giving the Island inhabitants and foreigners a sense of patriotism.

The Lion Head in this photo is just one among thousands of similar symbol you will find all over Singapore. This photo was shot along Orchard's famous touristic sidewalk. Etched on a bronze surface on top of a 3 foot pole marking the pedestrian, this symbols somehow for me represents the prosperous environment you see in Orchard.

Orchard is one if not the most famous shopping district in Singapore. There are more than 10 shopping centers here as well as most of the five star hotels. Takashimaya, Paragon and Tangs are just some of the trendiest malls along this street bursting a variety of products from Branded Clothing to Memorable Souvenirs. Truly a shoppers haven!

Paint The Sky

Paint The Sky, originally uploaded by loganwing.

I was on my way to the MRT station on a Saturday morning when I suddenly thought of looking up to the sky and was amazed by how the clouds painted the sky. The blue sky looked like a giant canvass where streaks of white paints represented by the clouds spread beautifully.

I quickly took out my iPhone and took a shot of the wonderful scene. I was surprised that despite poor quality of shots I usually get from my iPhone, this one was perfectly beautiful.

This photo made me realize that wonderful things are all around us, waiting for us to give them the appreciation they deserve. This will officially be my first upload on flickr from my iPhone. And just like my friend July, I will try to post one photo a day, not from my SLR but from my iPhone. I just hope I will be able to take something like this again from a 2 megapixel camera phone. Wish me luck!

UNI QLO In Singapore

UNI QLO, a japanese clothing retail giant is finally here in South East Asia. Set to open on Thursday April 9 at the newest shopping center Tampines 1, UNI QLO will definitely redefine fashion here in Singapore with its trendy yet classic collection.

In a nutshell, UNI QLO clothing line like Giordano and Bossini is distincly Asian. My brother has a few shirts bought from UNI QLO HK, and it is very trendy. The brand promoting quality and value promises to give its patrons stylish quality aparrel that will not hurt your pockets. Is it a risk for UNI QLO to open while we are all suffering from recession? Maybe.. But no matter what, people would still want to look good, and with UNI QLO, it doesn't have to be expensive.

The Train Part 1

I spend almost 2 hours in the Train everyday. Bringing me to work, to malls, to friends and sending me back home. Though alone most of the time, i never get bored. In every journey, i see different types of people. A man reading the newspaper, an old lady carrying her groceries, a couple kissing, students laughing, children in strollers, a lady sleeping, a boy playing PSP.

What about me? Well.. I spend most of the time observing each and every one of them. In the morning, most of the people in the train would be professionals in their office attires. I admire some of them who look very decent and laugh at those who look like they are going to perform in a carnival. I always see a few who didn't have time to iron their shirt, and some even look like they forgot to comb. Everybody would be in their morning worst. Lack of sleep or simply irritated by the thought of having another busy day. After entertaining myself with everything i see, i would doze off for a short nap if im lucky to get a seat. I start and end my day with my ever dependable train. What happens on my way home is a totally different story.

Stay tuned for part 2.

Im A Quitter! I Think.

Smoking. I hated people who smoke when I was a kid. I don't really get why so many people, specially men, inhale smoke and enjoy doing it. Like a normal curious kid, i tried lighting a cigarette from my grandfather's ash tray, and i didn't like it! Its just smoke! After that, I told myself I will not smoke EVER!

I ate what I said. Back in College, I smoked 3-5 sticks a day and nobody knew this until my Mom saw a pack of cigarette somewhere in my room. I was really embarassed. I stopped smoking for a while but the addiction keeps coming back whenever I see someone around me smoking.

I tried quitting not once or twice, but a LOT of times but ended up failing! Probably because its very cheap and convenient to buy cigars in Manila. You can even get it per stick on any corner of the street. Here in Singapore, one pack costs around 10 dollars, 300 pesos compared to around 25 pesos in Manila. Its about 10 times more expensive! It didn't stop me from smoking though, but I limit it to 2 sticks a day.

Again and again.. I tried quitting but failed. Its my way if escaping stress. It relaxes me. Now, I think I am determined to finally stop smoking. It started when I felt unhealthy because of not doing any sort of exercise while eating too much. And with that, I thought of dieting by eating fruits only for dinner, and night jogging. But to be completely healthy, i have to stop smoking. It is hard, but I really want to stop. I'd probably take a light whenever a friend offers one, but thats it. I bought my last pack 3 weeks ago, and i will try my best not to buy one again. Wish me luck guys!

I Love Sopas!

My all time favorite home grown dish is this milky chicken macaroni soup popularly known in Filipino households as "sopas". Soup, vegies, chicken and milk mixed together into a complete meal! A bowl of this rich soup is not enough. I'd always spice my bowl up with a lot of pepper! The traditional sopas from my mom doesn't have milk. She would always serve it with a separate container for milk so we can customize it to our taste, and it tastes better because the milk is not cooked so you can savor the creaminess.

Now, the fun part. I tried to cook sopas for dinner here in Singapore a couple of times. My mom did give me her secret recipe, but i thought i'd give it my own touch. The main ingredients are shreaded cooked chicken, cooked elbow macaroni, diced carrots, shredded cabbage, chicken stock, chicken cubes, chinese sausage, evarporated milk, salt, pepper, and scrap ham from Adelina's. I mix them all together until its boiling, after occasional stirring, check if the carrots are cooked, and voila! I can cook sopas! My housemates loved it! Im not exactly a person who is into cooking but i was pleasantly surprised my take on this classic filipino soup dish turned out better than i expected. I cooked sopas again last night, and while doing it, I suddenly missed my mom's sopas. Mommy! Make sure to cook sopas when i visit home on the 25th ok!

Watching Twilight Again

I didn't really like the big screen adaptation. It was not as romantic as the book. I never read romantic books, but Twilight really gave me the "kilig" factor when I was reading it. I was giggling in the MRT whenever Edward is uttering his romantic words to Bella. I wish I was that romantic, I wished my life will be that exciting. I want to be a Vampire!

Anyway, back to watching Twilight again. Our neighbors rented the DVD and we watched together on their new 42-inch HD TV! This time, I appreciate the movie better because I know what to expect. When I watched it in the cinema, I was disappointed! Watching it again though made the movie more interesting. How the director stitched everything from the book to a 2 hour movie. Well, the make-up is still horrible, but I enjoyed watching it at the comfort of our neighbors very cozy living room. Should I read "New Moon"? I don't have plans of reading it anymore.. I'm done being BELLA while reading the book.. bwahahah! I'll probably wait for the movie. And I admit it.. I felt a little kilig this time around! LOL!

Officemates Tried Filipino Food in BONIFACIO

The time I told all of them that my sister is going to manage a new Filipino Restaurant here in Singapore, everybody in the office was eager to go and get a taste of the Filipino Cuisine. All of them haven't tried eating Filipino Dishes so I was also excited for them. What could Singaporean's and one Hungarian colleague say about the Filipino taste?

First dish, Sisig. Sisig of course is one if not the most popular pulutan dish in the Philippines. And they liked it! It is spicy, and people here in Singapore love spicy food! Second dish, Chicken Inasal. Its chicken, so everybody loved it, specially Andrew (Hungarian) who liked the lemon grass flavor and aroma of the chicken. This one is also my personal favorite! Third dish, Crispy Pata. This gigantic piece of super crispy pork knuckles was so tasty, Andrew can't resist but take the bone and eat every piece of meat stuck on it! LOL! Fourth dish, Chicken Binakol. Chicken Soup with corn and coconut. Desmond literally cleaned the bowl and kept on saying "This is my favorite already"! The last few dishes Bicol Express and Pinakbet are equally tasty as the one I already mentioned, but we cannot eat them anymore because we are very full already. Mindy did mention that the Bicol Express is very chinese.

Overall, everybody had fun trying out each and every dish which is practically new to their taste buds. I'm glad they liked it! And I hope that more Singaporeans will learn to love Filipino Dishes and visit BONIFACIO often.

WHAT! MATT IN THE BOTTOM 3! WHAT'S WRONG!

Still can’t believe that after Matt’s breathetaking performance yesterday.. He was still in the bottom 2! What could have happened! One reason could be his looks. He is not exactly good looking and I don’t think he is charming enough for the girl dominated world. His music is also very sophisticated that most people could find a little too classy for American Idol. Yes.. American Idol is a talent search for pop stars and physical packaging is definitely a factor. But what a waste if Matt will not end up in the final 2 if he continues bringing outstanding performances every week.

I didn’t like Matt Giraud when top 36 started. I didn’t even quite get why he was picked in the wild card. But week after week, I get to appreciate his soulfulness when he takes the stage. Though I must admit that the competition is a bit tougher this year because most of the finalist are showing everything they got to make it to the finale.

I sure hope America will do the right thing next week and vote the for someone who is consistently bringing up their game. Matt for me is definitely one of the front runners and its a pitty to see him in the bottom.

Who is deserving to be in the bottom 3? MEGAN! She slaughtered “For Once In My Life”. One of my all time favorite songs! Don’t get me wrong. Megan is one talented gal.. her music is very different and has a certain edge, but the way she interpreted the song was just horrible! One of the worst American Idol performances ever!

But I am happy that Michael finally left the competition. He shouldn’t even be in the final 12. I’m excited for next week’s performance night! I hope my bets.. Anoop and Matt give their best next week!

Fighting Spiders: A Singapore Blockbuster Telemovie

The trailer has been running for months.. and the hype has definitely made me excited to see this blockbuster drama that will change the face of Singapore’s local TV Drama. The teaser trailer shows an awesome cinematography! The storyline seems to revolve around the friendship of 3 boys set in the 60s. It looks like another “I Not Stupid” to me and I have high hopes for this Blockbuster TV Series.
